Background…..
This brand new release from Angel’s Envy is their oldest product yet and differs from their first cellar collection. Coming in at 10 years old and aged in Tawny Port barrels for months. While it comes in with a hefty price tag of $249.99, if you are a bourbon lover you’re going to have to get ahold of this product. Unfortunately, this release is limited to 5400 bottles so act fast if you’re going to snag one.
How this whiskey was consumed….
The age old question how should you drink it? This bourbon comes in at 111.8 proof and drinks a little hotter. I prefer my drinks neat but if you have a big cube throw it in there and let it melt and it will bring out some great additional flavors!
Nose
I don’t pretend to know a lot when it comes to nosing bourbon, but this nose is a home run to me. A mix of dark fruits and rye spices give it great character that makes you want take that first sip!
Palate
We are very early into 2020, but this is up for bourbon of the year in my book. The dark fruit with a hint of citrus on the first drink coats the palate. As you take the second sip the oakiness comes out of the 10 year old bourbon and slowly turns into a mocha finish on the backend that lasts a long time. Perfect for Fall and Winter, this bourbon screams let’s have a night cap with the sweet tawny port finishing the bourbon nicely!
Overall Thoughts
I love it and I am excited to have a bottle of something that will be hard to keep on my shelf.
