Jake’s tasting notes: Blanton’s Gold

Nose: You are met by warm honey, cinnamon, orange zest and cherry. There are whiffs of cheesecake as well.

Palate: This palate is very warming and drinks warmer than the proof of 103 to me. There are toasted holiday spices of cinnamon and nutmeg. Followed by notes of honey, cherry, tobacco and cracked pepper.

Finish: Warming long finish of oak and honey.

Closing thoughts

I am not someone who chases Blanton’s or even asks for it. However, when Blanton’s Gold became available it piqued my interest and had to buy it. I am glad I did. It’s different from the original expression and brings appetizing flavors with the higher proof. This is a bottle I cannot wait to share with guests at my house.
