Buzzard’s Roost Releases Two Double-Oaked Single Barrel Bourbons for 5th Anniversary

LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY (August 13, 2024) – Buzzard’s Roost Sipping Whiskey is celebrating its 5th anniversary with the release of two exceptional double-oaked single barrel bourbons. These limited-edition bourbons, a 7-year-old and an 11-year-old, showcase Buzzard’s Roost’s unique approach to whiskey maturation and will be available starting August 17 at the Buzzard’s Roost Whiskey Row Experience in downtown Louisville. A limited number of bottles will also be available for pre-sale online.

A Visionary Journey in Whiskey

Founded in the summer of 2019 by Judy Hollis Jones and Jason Brauner, Buzzard’s Roost started with just three barrels of rye and a long-term vision. This foresight led them to purchase several barrels of aged bourbon, which have now been expertly crafted into these two special releases. Buzzard’s Roost has since grown into a respected brand, now distributed in 23 markets, including Canada.

The Double-Oaked Process: A Buzzard’s Roost Signature

Buzzard’s Roost has distinguished itself with its proprietary secondary maturation, or double-barreling process. This innovative technique involves placing the bourbon in new Char #1 oak barrels that have been precisely toasted to coax out unique flavors from the wood. This process has been a cornerstone of Buzzard’s Roost, resulting in flavor profiles not found in any other whiskeys.

“These are some of the most exciting bourbons we’ve produced,” says Jason Brauner, Master Blender at Buzzard’s Roost. “We spent considerable time determining the exact toast profile for the second barrels, which has allowed these bourbons to evolve into something truly special.”

Tasting Notes and Whiskey Details

Both the 7-year-old and 11-year-old double-oaked bourbons share a mash bill of 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley. The 7-year-old bourbon is bottled at 109.2 proof, while the 11-year-old bourbon comes in at a robust 113.8 proof.

The secondary maturation process has imparted these bourbons with complex and layered flavors. The 7-year-old bourbon offers rich notes of caramel, vanilla, and toasted oak, while the 11-year-old bourbon features deeper, more mature flavors of dark chocolate, dried fruit, and spice.

Pricing and Availability

Buzzard’s Roost Founders Seven-Year-Old Straight Bourbon will be priced at $125, and the 11-Year-Old Straight Bourbon will be available for $150. Both bourbons will be released at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, at the Buzzard’s Roost Whiskey Row Experience. Guests will have the opportunity to sample these limited-edition bourbons at the bar, with tasting flights available while supplies last.

For those unable to attend in person, a limited number of bottles will be available for pre-sale online.
