FORT COLLINS, Colo. (August 19, 2024) – Old Elk Distillery is thrilled to announce the latest addition to its acclaimed Cask Finish Series: the Cognac Cask Finish Straight Wheat Whiskey. This innovative release features Old Elk’s award-winning Straight Wheat Whiskey, aged for six years and finished for an additional 6 to 12 months in French Limousine Cognac Casks. Bottled at 95 proof (47.5% ABV), this unique expression offers a sophisticated blend of rich flavors, available nationwide for a suggested retail price of $89.99.
A New Twist on Wheat Whiskey
Master Blender Melinda Maddox and Master Distiller Greg Metze have expertly crafted this release to bring out the best in both the Straight Wheat Whiskey and the Cognac cask finish. The Cognac Cask Finish Straight Wheat Whiskey features notes of dark fruit and honeycomb, enhancing the whiskey’s natural sweetness and delicate spice. This release marks the first time Old Elk has finished its Straight Wheat Whiskey in Cognac casks, adding a new layer of complexity to the Cask Finish Series.
