Background…..
Kentucky Owl produces three products: Batched Blended Bourbons, Batched blended Ryes, and a play on its past Confiscated. We recently sat down with Dixon Dedman to talk about how this product line came to fruition. This patch of products was to play on the history of his Great Great Grandfathers Distillery and how all their bourbon was taken during prohibition. This product comes in at 96.4 proof
How this whiskey was consumed….
This bourbon is best consumed neat or with one big cube to open it up more as it drinks a little higher than than the 96.4
Nose
The nose has strong caramel, vanilla, cherry, and new oak
Palate
The first drink gives you a taste of typical bourbon: oak, caramel. There are also hints of tobacco on the front in. The second drink less kick up from but rolls over the tongue with great flavor and mouth fill
Overall Thoughts
This is a good bourbon in the $100-$125 price range. It has nice flavor profile and wouldn’t go wrong picking this up if you wanted to have some Kentucky Owl on your bar.
Rating
Overall solid bourbon, I would buy it if I was out, probably won’t buy another bottle.
