Whiskey Review: Five Trail American Whiskey by Molson Coors

When you hear the name Molson Coors, you don’t think bourbon or whiskey.  However, David Coors, Head of Experimental Beverage at Molson Coors, saw the whiskey market exploding and knew they should try their hands at crafting a whiskey.  In a recently released podcast, we detailed the entire conversation of how it came to be. But, for now lets dive into the flagship Five Trail American Whiskey for a little review.

Just the facts:

Jake’s Tasting Notes:  Five Trial American Whiskey

Nose: The maltiness is what stands out on this nose.  The rye bread notes give it a lot of spice which lead to more chocolate notes coming forward.

Palate: This is a whiskey with a full spice rack. Pulling from flavors such as cinnamon, vanilla,  and cocoa.  As you continue drink there are brighter citrus notes that shine through.

Finish: Medium

Closing Thoughts:

As Molson Coors continues to branch out into whiskey they now have a great base in Five Trail American Whiskey.  If you are looking for a super approachable whiskey with a ton of flavor, try this. I promise you this isn’t gimmick!
