The Louisville and Atlanta blenders are combining their signature expressions into a barrel proof one-off, launching Friday at the Pursuit Spirits festival booth.
LOUISVILLE, KY — September 8, 2026 — Pursuit Spirits, the Louisville whiskey blending house founded by the team behind the Bourbon Pursuit podcast, is releasing a new collaboration whiskey with Atlanta’s Shortbarrel called “Found Footage.” The limited release debuts Friday, September 11 at Kentucky Bourbon Festival, available first at the Pursuit Spirits booth while supplies last.
The release leans into a playful backstory — local legend of a creature guarding a legendary maple-finished bourbon in the woods, drawn out using Pursuit’s Double Oak Rye as bait. The “recovered footage” framing gives the bottle its name and grainy, camera-tape-inspired label design. Behind the concept is a genuine blend: Shortbarrel’s Sapsquatch maple-finished bourbon combined with Pursuit’s fan-favorite United Double Oak Rye.
Tasting Notes & More
Bottled at 700ml and 112.4 proof, “Found Footage” carries an MSRP of $99.99. Tasting notes lean toward brown sugar and Belgian waffles with bright ginger on the nose, moving into brown sugar butter, chocolate cinnamon doughnut, and ginger beer on the palate, finishing with cinnamon candy, anise cookie, and a light soda fizz.
Quotes From The Teams
Ryan Cecil, Master Blender and Co-Founder of Pursuit Spirits, said the goal going into the collaboration was simply to take each brand’s strongest whiskeys and blend them into something unexpected — pairing Shortbarrel’s sweeter Sapsquatch profile against the tobacco-and-oak-forward character of Pursuit’s Double Oak Rye to land on something worth seeking out.
Shortbarrel Co-Founder Clinton Dugan echoed that spirit of experimentation: “This collaboration was all about seeing what happens when two distinct flavor profiles collide.”
Festival attendees can purchase “Found Footage” starting at 2:00pm on Friday, September 11, with release beginning after the first Between Two Barrels session. The whiskey will later be available at Seelbach’s and at Pursuit Spirits’ Whiskey Row location.
