OWENSBORO, Ky. (February 10, 2025) — Marking the beginning of what is poised to be one of the most significant years in its more than 140-year history, Green River Distilling Co. announces the launch of Green River Wheated Full Proof Bourbon, arriving in 25 markets beginning February 13.

Green River Wheated Full Proof is built on the brand’s signature wheated mashbill—70% corn, 21% wheat, and 9% malted barley—and delivers a bold, barrel-strength experience while maintaining Green River’s hallmark approachability and exceptional value. With a suggested retail price of $49.99, the new release offers full-proof intensity at a price point rarely seen in the category.

The core wheated recipe recently earned Best Overall Bourbon at the 2025 New York World Spirits Competition, cementing Green River’s reputation for delivering standout quality in a fast-growing wheated bourbon segment often dominated by higher-priced bottles. Wheated Full Proof Bourbon builds on that award-winning foundation, amplifying flavor, texture, and depth.

“Wheated Full Proof is our way of giving fans a richer, more intense experience of the wheated bourbon they already love,” said Dan Callaway, Master Blender. “We kept the same mashbill and the same commitment to balance, then selected and blended barrels that truly shine at barrel strength. The result is a more robust expression that still drinks like Green River.”

Presented at a variable batch proof ranging from 109 to 116, the inaugural release is bottled at 109.3 proof (54.65% ABV). Barrels are aged five to seven years in Green River’s signature clay tile warehouses, where a naturally insulated environment accelerates flavor development. The result is enhanced vanilla, caramelized wood sugars, and a deeper, more expressive wheated profile.

Wheated bourbon now represents nearly one-third of the North American bourbon market, with continued growth projected through 2031, even as category pricing trends upward (Allied Market Research). At the same time, consumer demand has increasingly shifted toward higher-proof offerings, with 100-plus-proof and full-proof bourbons leading enthusiast rankings and driving category momentum.

“At Green River, it’s not about breaking new ground or dialing up the hype. Wheated Full Proof doubles down on our commitment to make the best of Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey with uncompromising value,” Callaway added.

Green River Wheated Full Proof will be available exclusively in 750mL bottles, featuring the brand’s iconic horseshoe bottle and core packaging architecture for instant shelf recognition. Distinctive design updates—including a custom copper-accented tax strip—clearly differentiate the new expression from the core lineup.
