NASHVILLE, Ind. (March 31, 2026) – Hard Truth Distilling Co. has officially kicked off its 2026 Barrel Finish Reserve series with the release of French Oak Finished Bourbon. This limited, grain-to-glass expression marks a sophisticated evolution of the distillery’s award-winning sweet mash program.
The release is a meticulous blend of 23 barrels featuring two distinct Indiana grain mash bills. After initial aging in custom-toasted American oak, the whiskey underwent a secondary maturation in toasted French oak casks sourced from one of France’s most historic cooperages.
“The exciting part of bringing this bourbon to life is the unique opportunity to put our blending strategy and barrel finished program together,” explained Hard Truth Barrel Manager Chris Moore. “By selecting two complementary mash bills of our sweet mash bourbon, then finishing the whiskey in medium plus toast char #1 barrels… we were able to develop a complex and velvety bourbon.”
Master Distiller Bryan Smith noted that the distillery crew took the extra step of allowing the whiskey to mellow in its original casks after finishing to ensure deep flavor integration.
“This bold, sweet and elegant whiskey highlights our quality-first mindset,” added Smith. “This has quickly become THE favorite whiskey amongst the distillery crew.”
Bottled at 106.1 proof, French Oak Finished Bourbon is currently available at the Hard Truth distillery campus in Brown County, with retail distribution across select states beginning in the coming weeks.
