Limited-edition presentation celebrates Japanese craftsmanship, nature, and the artistry of whisky-making

New York – October 22, 2025 – The House of Suntory today announced a stunning new collaboration between its iconic Hibiki Blended Japanese Whisky and celebrated Japanese painter Hiroshi Senju. This artistic partnership honors Hibiki’s pursuit of harmony and craftsmanship, reimagining the intersection of whisky, art, and nature through a limited-edition presentation box for two of Hibiki’s most coveted expressions — Hibiki 21 Years Old and Hibiki 30 Years Old.

Senju’s distinctive artistry transforms each bottle’s casing into a collector’s keepsake, celebrating the shared values of refined beauty, craftsmanship, and Japanese tradition that define both Hibiki and Senju’s art.

Art, Nature, and Harmony in Every Detail

Hibiki, revered for its subtle, refined, and complex flavor profile, is an artful blend of whiskies from Suntory’s Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita distilleries, embodying the balance between people and nature. Similarly, Hiroshi Senju, known globally for his waterfall paintings, draws deeply from the natural world — using water and natural pigments to express Japan’s landscapes.

This creative alignment inspired the new collaborative piece, “Waterfall on Colors ‘Hibiki,’” a monumental artwork featuring ten shades of purple inspired by Kokimurasaki, a noble hue symbolizing rarity and craftsmanship. Senju’s signature technique involves filling panels with water and marble powder, allowing gravity and flow to guide color and texture — much like whisky’s own aging journey.

For Hibiki 21 Years Old, Senju’s waterfall imagery adorns both the label and presentation box, evoking the whisky’s balance and grace. The Hibiki 30 Years Old edition serves as a true collector’s masterpiece, presented in a byōbu-style multi-panel display with a reflective base, an etched Hibiki emblem, and a cascading waterfall motif on the crystal bottle’s neck wrap.

“This partnership honors Hibiki’s pursuit of artistry, reimagining the relationship between whisky, art, and nature,” said a House of Suntory representative. “It’s a tribute to Japanese mastery and the timeless harmony between traditional craftsmanship and modern expression.”

Celebrating an Icon of Japanese Art and Whisky

Senju, a renowned figure in the art world, has received accolades including the Honorable Mention Award at the Venice Biennale and the Foreign Minister’s Commendation for his contributions to Japanese culture. His works bridge Eastern and Western philosophies and are featured in collections around the world, including at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Hiroshi Senju Museum Karuizawa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

“Hiroshi Senju’s artistry reflects the same reverence for nature and attention to detail that define Hibiki,” said the House of Suntory. “Together, they create an experience that is not only to be savored, but also to be admired.”

Tasting Notes

Hibiki 21 Years Old – Elegant, floral, and round. Expect notes of honeycomb, sandalwood, and dried apricot, balanced by the subtle complexity of Mizunara oak. The finish is long and graceful with a delicate incense-like aroma.

Hibiki 30 Years Old – Deep and resonant. Rich layers of brown sugar, dried fig, gingerbread, and apricot jam unfold into a warm, cinnamon-accented finish, highlighting the depth and artistry of long-matured Mizunara oak.

Both expressions are bottled at 43% ABV and available in limited quantities worldwide beginning October 22, 2025 across the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Northern Europe, China, Australia, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, and select global travel retail locations.
