International Whisk(e)y Day!

Today is a day of inclusion, in reality, we should live everyday as inclusive as we can, but today is a day that us whisk(e)y drinkers share a commonality, as today is the 11th annual International Whisk(e)y day! On this day we pass no judgements on your whisky or whiskey of choice of Bourbon, Scotch, Irish, and Canadian whiskey as we all raise a glass in celebration to the various styles of our beloved spirit as well as support for Parkinson Disease research.

On this day in 2008, the International Whisk(e)y day was created in the northern Netherlands in the presence of whisky writers to celebrate an established whisky author by the name of Michael Jackson. Michael wrote many books regarding the craft of beer, as well as whisky making. Unfortunately, Michael passed away in August of 2007 at the age of 65 due to complications with Parkinson Disease. On March 27th, 2008, several of Michael’s colleagues and friends established this day as International Whisk(e)y day to celebrate his life and the contributions he made with his works in the whisky industry.

Grab a whisk(e)y, grab a glass, and toast one up for the life and work of Michael Jackson, and join us in celebrating another year of International Whisk(e)y day! Cheers!
