Jack Daniel’s has named Coy Hill Rye its 2026 Single Barrel Special Release. The barrel proof Tennessee Rye Whiskey was aged for 10 years at Coy Hill, the highest point at the Jack Daniel Distillery, and bottled between 128.7 and 148.5 proof. It is the first time rye from the Coy Hill barrelhouses has been bottled as a Single Barrel release.

The whiskey uses Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Rye mash bill of 70% rye, 18% corn and 12% malted barley. It was charcoal mellowed and barreled in new, charred American white oak in 2016. It then spent ten years in Barrelhouses 1–13, where the high elevation brings big seasonal temperature swings.

“The annual Special Release series has allowed us to push the boundaries of our whiskey-making craft, and our previous Coy Hill releases have been among our most acclaimed,” said Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller, Chris Fletcher. “We are thrilled to return to Coy Hill and showcase our Tennessee Rye Whiskey while taking full advantage of the unique maturation environment and over ten years in the barrel to yield a bold, complex whiskey we are incredibly proud to share.”

Tasting notes
  • Nose: Orchard fruit, honey and toasted oak
  • Palate: Citrus sweetness, light molasses, black tea and robust oak
  • Finish: Sweet rye and lingering barrel spice (varies slightly by barrel)
Where Coy Hill Rye fits in the lineup:

It follows the 2025 Tanyard Hill Rye and joins other Coy Hill releases: this year’s Small Batch Rye, the 2024 Coy Hill Barrelhouse 8, the 2022 Small Batch Coy Hill High Proof and the 2021 Coy Hill High Proof. The 2021 release holds the record for the highest proofs Jack Daniel’s has ever released.
