Larceny Barrel Proof C923: A Taste of Grandma’s Kitchen

Newest Larceny C923 Release From Heaven Hill

While we have only ever drank a few other Larceny Barrel Proofs, we was excited to crack this right after we drank the Old Fitzgerald 10 year on our recent podcast. Knowing they are the same mashbill it was interesting to compare the two but they are completely unique from one another! Let’s dive into Larceny Barrel Proof C923.

Just the facts:

  • Proof: 126.4
  • Age: 6 to 8 years old
  • Price: $59.99
  • Style: Kentucky Straight Wheated Bourbon

Scott’s Tasting Notes: Larceny Barrel Proof C923

Nose: Not as “proofy” as one would come to expect from 126 proof, loads of cinnamon and pie crust.

Palate: Slightly tannic initially, the cinnamon carries over from the nose, and reminds me of Grandma’s fresh baked cherry cobbler (albeit, after spending a couple extra minutes in the oven and having a little extra caramelized cherry filling and toasty pie crust on the edges).

Finish: Long, warming finish with lingering cherry sweetness.

Jake’s Tasting Notes: Larceny Barrel Proof C923

Nose: Cinnamon, milk chocolate, very sweet!

Palate: Grain sweetness, cinnamon, milk chocolate & vanilla

Finish: Long, sweet finish

Closing Thoughts:

When asking the question what bourbon or whiskey would you buy in the $60 and under price range this has to be firmly in the mix. It provides the essential wheat characteristics and could be a daily drinker!
