Mash & Grain Borrowed Page Delivers a Unique Blend of Craft Whiskey

We always champion craft whiskey at Bourbon Lens.  When unique blends pop up, we are like moths to a flame and this one is no different.  Mash & Grain’s Borrowed Page American Whiskey Volume 1 features four names in whiskey you may or may not know:

  • Watershed Distillery Straight Bourbon makes up 34% of the blend
  • Wigle Whiskey, Pennsylvania Straight Rye makes up 32%
  • Spirits of French Lick, Lee Sinclair Bourbon makes up 24% (listen to Episode 47: The Alchemist of Indiana for our podcast with Alan Bishop)
  • Whiskey Del Bac, Mesquite Smoked Single Malt makes up the last 10%

Just the Facts :

Proof: 116.88

Price: $75

Style: American Whiskey

This whiskey was blended at Bluegrass Bottling Company, dumped and bottled over a three day period in June.  This is an extremely limited release of only 724 bottles.

Brand Tasting Notes:

Nose: Blackberry Jam, Orange Peel Tobacco, Maple, Cinnamon, Mesquite Smoke

Palate: the mouthfeel is hot but silky. There is a rich salted caramel sweetness up front that morphs into a cinnamon coffee cake with mild black pepper and lingering brown sugar in the mid palate.

Jake’s Tasting Notes:

Color: Honey

Nose: Met with the sweet smell of a barbecue from a distance as you get closer to the whiskey you are met with citrus, apple that finishes off with oak, leather, and vanilla.

Palate: my favorite thing about this whiskey is the mouthfeel and maltyness.  Something that gives it depth in complexity, along with the traditional citrus, oak, and vanilla notes from the bourbon and rye whiskies in the blend.

Finish: Malty with lingering citrus.

Cheers,

Jake
