Milam & Greene Whiskey is set to unveil its exclusive Barn Owl Single Barrel Bourbon. This is the fifth cask-strength release in the popular 2024 Wildlife Collection. The collection is a single-barrel series cherished by bourbon collectors. They love exploring how Texas’s unique environmental conditions shape bourbon flavors. This year’s Wildlife Collection celebrates Texas’s wild bird species, with each release benefiting the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation. You can purchase Barn Owl Single Barrel Bourbon exclusively through the Milam & Greene website. It will also be available at the distillery tasting room on October 17, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. CDT.
The Barn Owl Single Barrel Bourbon is crafted from a barrel aged atop the highest row in Milam & Greene’s open-air, single-story rickhouse. It embodies the bold, rich flavors. These flavors develop under Texas’s intense climate shifts. The result? A potent cask-strength whiskey with a refined character, distilled with a mash bill of 84% corn, 8% rye, and 8% malted barley. It was aged first in Tennessee for over six years. Then, it completed its maturation in Blanco, Texas. There, it was subjected to both freezing winter spells and prolonged summer heat. This complex aging journey has yielded an aromatic profile of almond, maple syrup, smoked cedar, and cherry. The palate is equally bold, featuring notes of chocolate toffee, rye toast, and cherry, with a smooth finish accented by caramel and biscuit.
Bottled at 130 proof, only 158 bottles of the Barn Owl Single Barrel Bourbon will be available at $149.99 each, making it a rare collector’s item. Proceeds from this collection will help fund wildlife and conservation efforts through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation, underscoring Milam & Greene’s commitment to supporting Texas’s natural heritage.
