A Pour As Big As The Roaring 20’s

Remus Gatsby Reserve Review:

When news of this bourbon broke a few weeks back, we got excited here at the Bourbon Lens.  Not knowing if this limited release would find its way to us, we are extremely grateful to have received a sample.  When you think of Gatsby, you think of over the top and extravagance, so let’s dive in and see what it is all about!

Just the Facts:

Proof: 97.8

Age: 15 Years Old

Mash Bill: Undisclosed

Style: Straight Bourbon Whiskey

MSRP: $199.00

Jake’s Tasting Notes: Remus Gatsby Reserve

Color: Dark Amber

Nose: Rich dark oak, baking spices, slight orange zest, and dried cherry.

Palate: Very approachable for a 15-year-old pour. The oak tannins can sometimes be overwhelming on a pour like this. The rich complexity of stone fruits, plum and cherry, are very subtle.  The soft chocolatey undertones allow the sweetness of the dark fruits to shine through.

Finish: Long and Lingering

Closing Thoughts

This pour is as big as the roaring 20’s.  It is bold and full of flavor; it doesn’t disappoint when it comes to living up to the era to which it pays homage. If you are looking for a top quality holiday pour this year, this Indiana Straight Bourbon Whiskey might be the big bold pour for you!
