LAWRENCEBURG, IN (May 19, 2026) – Remus Bourbon has officially announced the launch of the Remus Lou Gehrig Reserve Bourbon, an ultra-limited annual extension celebrating the legendary New York Yankees first baseman known as the “Iron Horse.” The release follows the brand’s highly successful Babe Ruth iterations from 2024 and 2025.

Crafted by Master Distiller Ian Stirsman at the historic Ross & Squibb Distillery, this limited-edition bottle is packed with baseball symbolism. To honor Gehrig’s iconic No. 4 jersey, Stirsman engineered the bourbon using four distinct, high-rye and high-corn mash bills. The bottling strength sits at a precise 109 proof, paying homage to the 100th anniversary of Gehrig’s 109 RBI season in 1926.

Only 9,665 bottles will be released nationwide—a direct reflection of Gehrig’s total career plate appearances. In a highly innovative move for spirits packaging, a QR code on the back label allows collectors to scan their specific bottle to discover exactly what Gehrig achieved on the diamond during that exact career plate appearance.

The intricate four-cask blend features a heavy backbone of mature Indiana high-rye bourbon alongside unique high-corn components:

The sensory profile opens with warm cinnamon and nutmeg, evolving into leather, clove, brown sugar, plum, and marshmallow, before resting on a long finish of toasted cedar and baking spice. The bottle comes styled with an embossed baseball diamond label and a custom baseball bat knob closure.

A Purpose-Driven Launch

Coinciding with the drop, Remus Bourbon is donating $9,665 (one dollar for every career plate appearance) to the Live Like Lou Foundation, an organization funding ALS research and supporting affected families.
