ATLANTA, GA (February 2, 2026) — Atlanta-based Shortbarrel, one of the fastest-growing independently owned craft spirits brands in the Southeast, announces the nationwide release of its flagship, always-available Shortbarrel Four Grain Straight Bourbon. Following a successful rollout throughout the Southeast, the brand is now shipping to 47 states via shortbarrelbourbon.com, marking a major milestone in Shortbarrel’s continued growth.
With a suggested retail price of $39.99, Shortbarrel Four Grain Bourbon is also available in bars and retail locations across Georgia, Kentucky, Florida, Tennessee, and Texas, offering bourbon drinkers nationwide access to the brand’s signature expression.
Aged four to five years, Shortbarrel Four Grain Bourbon is a wheated Kentucky bourbon blended from the company’s carefully curated inventory of barrels. The whiskey showcases the blending and maturation expertise of Co-Founder and Master Blender Clinton Dugan, who sourced barrels from Wilderness Trail in Danville, Kentucky (64% corn, 24% wheat, 12% malted barley) and Green River Distilling Co. in Owensboro, Kentucky (70% corn, 21% rye, 9% malted barley).
By blending these mash bills, Dugan created a final four-grain profile of 65% corn, 20% wheat, 3% rye, and 12% malted barley, delivering balance between softness, spice, and structure.
For the brand’s flagship bourbon, Dugan leaned heavily into the high-wheat Wilderness Trail barrels to provide a smooth, approachable base, while incorporating rye-forward Green River whiskey to add spice and backbone. Bottled at 92 proof and non-chill filtered, the result is an everyday sipper that bridges wheated and high-rye bourbon styles with sweetness, gentle spice, creamy mouthfeel, and subtle malt complexity.
True to its Georgia roots, Shortbarrel’s secondary aging process takes place in Atlanta, where higher humidity and temperatures further shape the whiskey’s character. Initial aging occurs in Kentucky rickhouses using a combination of Char #3 and Char #4 barrels, before finishing in Shortbarrel’s palletized Atlanta warehouse, racked four to five rows high with no temperature control. This hands-on maturation allows Dugan to closely monitor barrels and select the ideal components for final blending.
“Our deep relationships, resources and the state of the American whiskey industry have given us access to some of the most impressive barrels on the open market,” said Shortbarrel Co-Founder and Master Blender Clinton Dugan. “This allows us to select from only the best of the best when blending our whiskies, while also making them affordable enough for everyone to have an exceptionally high-quality, go-to everyday bourbon.”
Shortbarrel Four Grain Bourbon opens with aromas of caramel, vanilla, and honeyed grains, followed by warm baking spice, toasted oak, and a hint of malt. The palate is rounded and full-bodied, showcasing corn sweetness and creamy wheat balanced by rye spice and soft chocolate notes from the barley. The finish is smooth and lingering, with notes of caramelized oak, vanilla bean, citrus peel, and a final touch of pepper and toasted grain.
Founded in 2020, Shortbarrel was born from friendship when Adam Dorfman, Clinton Dugan, and Patrick Lemmond turned a shared love of whiskey into a passion project. A chance encounter during a barrel pick in Louisville led to the trio purchasing their first barrels, giving rise to the Shortbarrel brand. The name itself comes from the term “short barrel,” referring to a barrel that has lost up to 50% of its contents to the angel’s share—leaving behind a whiskey concentrated in flavor, a standard the founders aim to meet with every release.
Shortbarrel and Old Fourth Distillery products are available in 48 states via ecommerce at shortbarrelbourbon.com and o4d.com, supported by one of the most sophisticated direct-to-consumer operations in the spirits industry. Retail distribution includes Georgia (Empire), Kentucky (Kentucky Eagle), Florida (Green Light), Tennessee (Advintage), and Texas (Green Light).
