Have you caught our most recent podcast featuring Shortbarrel Whiskey co-founder Clinton Dugan? If not is streaming everywhere right now! In today’s review we look at one of the bourbons we tasted during the podcast Shortbarrel Toasted Small Batch Bourbon. Let’s dive into this toasted barrel!
Just the facts:
- Proof: 94
- Age: 4 1/2 years
- Style: Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
- Finish: Medium Toast Barrels
- Price: $59.99
Jake’s tasting notes: Shortbarrel Toasted Small Batch Bourbon
Nose: Slightly astringent on the nose followed by waves of vanilla, caramel, oak and leather
Palate: toasty oak, caramel, leather and finish of walnut
Finish: Very full mouth feel leads to a long finish with tons of that second barrel flavor
Closing thoughts:
This a well done toasted barrel bourbon. You can get lost in this bottle if you like traditional Kentucky Straight Bourbon flavors. If you are on the fence listen to the podcast and how this group of guys bootstrapped Shortbarrel Bourbon into a unique NPD and now distillery with their Old Fourth Acquisition.
