LOUISVILLE, KY – As the boundary between whiskey collectors and agave spirits continues to blur, Bourbon Lens is proud to present an inside look at Tears of Llorona, an Extra Añejo tequila that is redefining the “luxury” category.
Crafted by Master Distiller Germán González, Tears of Llorona is a masterclass in patience. While industrial spirits prioritize speed, this 100% Highland Agave spirit is aged for five years in a rare trio of barrels: Scotch, Sherry, and Brandy. The result is a complex, high-proof (43% ABV) masterpiece that drinks with the soul of a fine bourbon.
“Tequila, much like whiskey or bourbon, has become increasingly diverse,” says the Bourbon Lens team. “Tears of Llorona stands out because of its meticulous process, small batch production, and the deep cultural story embedded in every bottle.”
With only 19 batches produced over the last 12 years, this one-liter offering—housed in a bottle that pays nostalgic homage to classic Mexican milk glass—is a rare artifact for any serious spirits collector.
