Aged in Rare Pacific Northwest Garryana Oak, 10th Edition Showcases Decade of Craftsmanship.

Seattle-based Westland Distillery announced today the release of Garryana American Single Malt 10th Edition, marking the first age-statement whiskey in its acclaimed Garryana series. Bottled at 100 proof in a 700ml format with an estimated 4,608 bottles, the 10th Edition highlights a decade of maturation in rare Quercus garryana oak native to the Pacific Northwest. The release is available in Washington State on October 18 and nationwide at select retailers beginning October 27, with a suggested retail price of $149.99.

A Pinnacle of Pacific Northwest Terroir

First released in 2015, the Garryana series has earned a cult following, including ranking #3 on Whisky Advocate’s Top 20 Whiskies in 2023. Westland’s Master Blender Shane Armstrong, who has led the series from the start, shared:

“There is a magic to working with an oak species unique to our region. A shorthand for showcasing how Single Malt Whiskey makes sense here, from raw materials and climate to inspiration and collaboration. Each edition seeks a supporting cast to concentrate or contrast. This release, our very first to boast an age statement, represents refinement over time, a small gesture to all those tasks tallied in service of something new.”

The 10th Edition combines Westland’s signature Five Malt and Washington Pale Malts with casks including first- and second-fill Garry Oak, supported by Pedro Ximénez, Rum, and Ex-Bourbon barrels, creating a layered and complex profile.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Mulled wine with clove, walnut fudge brownie, lemon Danish pastry
  • Palate: S’mores, dehydrated strawberry, toasted cumin seed, blood orange

This edition emphasizes unique spice, rich sweetness, and aromatic complexity, a tribute to the Pacific Northwest’s terroir and Westland’s decade-long dedication to innovation.
