We keep the Redwood Empire reviews rolling with Emerald Giant Rye Whiskey. Excited to dive into a straight rye with a little wheat built into a blend, first time I believe I tried anything like this mashbill!
Just the facts: Emerald Giant
Proof: 116.4
Age: Undisclosed
Mash bill: 94% Rye, 5% Malted Barely, 1% Wheat
Style: Rye Whiskey
Jake’s tasting notes: Emerald Giant
Nose: a hint of pine and citrus first meets your nose. As you continue to smell through the whiskey waves of caramel follow.
Palate: This rye brings the spice! Right off the first sip I get nutmeg, cinnamon, and white pepper. The second sip brings more of the spice but the caramel and citrus start to shine.
Finish: Short and Spicy!
Closing Thoughts:
Emerald Giant rye whiskey is superb, it sits right in my wheel house. If you enjoy a spicy rye with faves of flavor as undertones this would be a great pick up.
