When Scott and I sat down with Colin Spoelman of Kings County Distillery, I knew a lot about the brand but had never tried their whiskey. I was excited of what could come in these sleekly designed bottles with a variety of different whiskies in them. Before I got too far ahead of myself, I knew I had to start with the Kings County Straight Bourbon Whiskey if I was going to get an understanding of what the other whiskies have to offer. So here are my thoughts on this fine whiskey.
Just the Facts:
Proof: 95
Age: Between 3 – 5 years old
Mash bill: 80% corn/ 20% malted barely
Style: Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Jake’s Tasting Notes: Kings County Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Nose: caramel, vanilla, cherry and a hint of breadiness
Palate: malty, cracked pepper, vanilla and honey.
Finish: short, but sweet.
Closing Thoughts:
This bourbon is just an easy sipper with fun flavors. I really like the style in which they have created this whiskey which will be approachable by fans of all whiskey, not just bourbon drinkers.
