New Whiskey Brand Leaks Showing Collaboration with Chris Stapleton

Chris Stapleton in Filson Clothing Collaboration

Buffalo Trace Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley has teamed up with Chris Stapleton to Co-Found “Traveller Whiskey”

Bourbon Lens has confirmed with Buffalo Trace Distillery that American Country Music Award-winning singer, songwriter and musician Chris Stapleton has teamed up with the Distillery for a second time to create a new brand called Traveller Whiskey. No stranger to brand collaborations, Stapleton also recently announced a clothing collection named “The Traveller Collection” with Filson which launches on October 5, 2023. Stapleton, previously collaborated with Buffalo Trace Distillery for a limited edition release of the E. H. Taylor, Jr. Bottled in Bond commemorative Chris Stapleton Single Barrel Bourbon, to raise funds for Stapleton’s charitable fund, Outlaw State of Kind. Each bottle was autographed by Chris Stapleton and was used to raise funds for a variety of charities across the country.

In a provided statement, Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley has provided some insight into the development of Traveller Whiskey:

In creating Traveller, we tried over 50 different recipes, experimenting, testing, and adjusting until we found a complex and approachable flavor profile worthy of the whiskey drinker who will enjoy it. In the end, there was one clear winner – Blend No. 40 – that everyone agreed was worthy to be Traveller Whiskey.

The speculation and imagination have already been running wild thanks to a public record filed with the United States’ Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau. Distilleries and brands must seek approval for labels prior to release and this is often an excellent resource for bourbon and whiskey enthusiasts looking for the next hot whiskey release. We’ve included some “fast facts” about the release, which we’ve gleaned from the labels which are also reproduced below.

According to the label submission:

Good whiskey is a lot like a good song. It requires no explanation. One taste should tell you everything you need to know. No one has to tell you how to feel about it. You simply settle in & enjoy.

For this first-of-it’s-kind collaboration from Buffalo Trace Distillery, Traveller brings together the collective artistry of Chris Stapleton and Master Distiller, Harlen Wheatley.

Blend No. 40 is the carefully curated result of countless hours of testing & tasting. It’s a completely unique combination of whiskies from award-winning distilleries and exactly what you’d expect, a premium whiskey that speaks for itself.

Tasting details and product information will be available later this year, with the Traveller Whiskey being slated for wide release beginning in early 2024.

It seems like the Grammy Award Winner, Chris Stapleton, may be taking his love for Tennessee Whiskey back home to Kentucky for this release. Stapleton was born in Lexington Kentucky which is just a short drive from Buffalo Trace Distillery.
