Newport, KY (Aug. 28, 2024) — New Riff Distilling proudly unveils the 2024 release of its highly anticipated Sour Mash Single Malt Whiskey. This latest edition continues New Riff’s tradition of innovation, offering a unique and complex whiskey profile that enthusiasts will appreciate.
New Riff began crafting batches of malt whiskey shortly after its founding in 2014, with the first release debuting last fall to critical acclaim. This year’s version introduces an evolved blend, while still retaining the signature balance of sherry cask influence and peaty-smoky flavors that fans loved.
Co-founder and vice president, Jay Erisman, notes, “This year’s blend is even more cohesive and well-integrated, making it an exceptional addition to our portfolio.”
2024 Sour Mash Single Malt Whiskey Details:
- Mashbill: 100% barley varietals — Golden Promise, Maris Otter, Scottish peated barley malt — plus two beer-inspired mashbills based on Barleywine and Belgian Quadrupel recipes.
- Barrels: Features 9-year-old barrels, including Madeira Cask-aged malt whiskey.
- Proof: Bottled at 114.5 proof, non-chill filtered.
- Flavor Profile: A robust spectrum from rich, dark fruits to earthy, savory smoke, offering a one-of-a-kind whiskey experience.
Educational Seminars and Availability:
New Riff’s WHSKY NRD whiskey education series will host Single Malt seminars on Sept. 6 and Nov. 8. Attendees will explore the origins of New Riff’s Single Malt project and taste various whiskeys alongside the distillery’s experts, including Jay Erisman.
