This latest release is a collaboration between the renowned La Alteña Distillery, the third-generation Camarena family, and the James B. Beam Distilling Co. and highlights their expertise in producing high-quality spirits. The Basil Hayden Toast Edition is the third installment in the Mundial Collection, which features unique cask finishes from distinguished distillers around the world.
The Basil Hayden Toast Edition is a distinctive expression of El Tesoro Reposado, aged for nearly six months in specially toasted and flash-charred Basil Hayden barrels. This unique aging process imparts rich flavors, including cooked agave, cinnamon, and crème brûlée, resulting in a smooth and indulgent sipping experience.
The Mundial Collection aims to unite the art of tequila-making with the craftsmanship of global distillers. The first edition, El Tesoro® Mundial Collection: The Laphroaig® Edition, was released in 2021 and shined a light on the proud distilling tradition of Tequila melding with the barrel-aging expertise of Scotch. The result was a gentle hint of salty ocean air and peat smoke for a truly distinctive tequila. The second edition, El Tesoro® Mundial Collection: Knob Creek® Rye Edition, was released in 2023 and featured El Tesoro Añejo aged in the distinctive casks of Knob Creek Rye Whisky barrels, resulting in a beautiful balance between subtle sweetness and spice. With each release, the collection honors El Tesoro’s heritage while inviting enthusiasts to experience the evolving landscape of tequila.
