Wyoming Whiskey is honoring the Queen of the Tetons by donating $20,000 to the Grand Teton National Park Foundation. Grizzly 399 roamed Wyoming’s wild for 28 years and was truly the Queen of the Wild.

KIRBY, Wyo. (Nov. 1, 2024) — Wyoming Whiskey is proud to announce the release of “Queen of the Tetons,” a new, limited-edition bourbon paying tribute to the iconic Grizzly 399, tragically lost in a car accident near Grand Teton National Park on October 22, 2024.

Grizzly 399’s passing has touched wildlife enthusiasts worldwide. This legendary bear was an emblem of the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem. Many people loved her for her remarkable life. She drew countless tourists and photographers who hoped for a glimpse of the 7-foot, 400-pound matriarch. Over her 28 years, she raised 18 cubs along Wyoming’s Snake River, capturing the spirit and resilience of the wild.

Honoring Grizzly 399: Queen of the Tetons Bourbon

Wyoming Whiskey created Queen of the Tetons to celebrate Grizzly 399’s bold, enduring spirit. As part of the release, Wyoming Whiskey is donating $20,000 to the Grand Teton National Park Foundation. This donation supports grizzly bear education, conservation, and habitat preservation efforts. Wyoming Whiskey co-founder David DeFazio said, “Grizzly 399 was truly the Queen of the Tetons, embodying resilience and strength in her 28 years on display in Wyoming’s wild.”

Queen of the Tetons is an exclusive release, with only 720 bottles available. Each bottle showcases a stunning image of Grizzly 399 by renowned wildlife photographer Thomas Mangelsen. This bourbon, bottled at 99 proof (49.5% ABV) with an SRP of $84.99, is available exclusively at the Wyoming Whiskey Jackson Barrel House, the Kirby Whiskey Shop, and select Wyoming retailers.

In an additional tribute, Wyoming Whiskey will auction the 399th bottle of this limited release. All proceeds will go to the Grand Teton National Park Foundation.
