This exclusive, cask-strength bourbon exemplifies the influence of Texas’s unique climate on whiskey aging while honoring the wild beauty of the Cooper’s Hawk, a bird commonly seen soaring above the Blanco distillery. Proceeds from this limited edition benefit the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation.
Available starting Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. (CDT), this collector’s bourbon will be sold exclusively on the Milam & Greene Whiskey website and in the distillery tasting room.
Crafted with Precision and Aged to Perfection
“Our rickhouses are designed to let the natural Texas climate shape the whiskey’s flavor,” explains Heather Greene, CEO and master blender at Milam & Greene. “For Cooper’s Hawk, we specifically chose barrels aged on a low rack, where temperatures were cooler. The intense Texas heat and fluctuating temperatures contributed to its remarkable proof and complexity.”
The Cooper’s Hawk Single Barrel Bourbon was pulled from cask #505, yielding only 149 bottles at 128.1 proof (64.05% ABV). Distilled in Tennessee in 2016, it features a mash bill of 84% corn, 8% rye, and 8% malted barley. The whiskey was aged in Tennessee for six years and eight months before spending an additional year and eight months in the south side of Milam & Greene Rickhouse 1 in Texas.
