Wheel Horse Whiskey, distilled at the historic Green River Distilling Co. in Owensboro, Kentucky, has unveiled its latest release – the Double Oak 5-Year Bourbon. With only 2,100 bottles produced, this limited-edition expression joins the brand’s seasonal lineup of premium small-batch whiskeys. After maturing for over four years in traditional charred oak barrels, the bourbon undergoes a finishing process in new Char 1 barrels with extended air seasoning, giving it a rich, oak-forward profile. Bottled at 101 proof and non-chill filtered, the Double Oak Bourbon is priced at $34.99.

Stephen Corrigan, Barrel Master of Wheel Horse, shared his excitement about the release: “Double oak Bourbons have gained in popularity over the last few years. Our goal when crafting Wheel Horse Double Oak was to complement the underlying cherry note of the whiskey with bold flavors of raw sugar and cocoa.

On the nose, the bourbon offers aromas of chocolate-dipped toffee and pound cake, while the palate reveals sweeter notes of demerara sugar, vanilla custard, dried cherries, and cocoa. The finish is a lingering blend of chocolate cake and pipe tobacco with hints of brown sugar. The new 5-Year Double Oak joins a collection of extremely well-priced yet limited-edition whiskeys, including Cigar Blend Bourbon, Rye Whiskey finished in Caribbean Rum barrels, and Toasted Barrel Bourbon. Wheel Horse Whiskeys are a must-try for bourbon enthusiasts.
