Garavogue 20 Year Old Irish Single Malt is the New Whiskey from Hawk’s Rock Distillery

The Distillery in Ireland Releases Garavogue 20 Year Old Irish Single Malt as it’s First Release.

The Sazerac Company proudly introduces Garavogue 20 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey, its first release from Hawk’s Rock Distillery. Crafted by Master Blender Helen Mulholland, the first female Master Blender in Irish whiskey history, this limited-edition whiskey reflects Sazerac’s commitment to exceptional distillation and innovation.

A Bridge Between Tradition and Innovation

Named after the Garavogue River flowing through Sligo, Garavogue Whiskey blends Irish whiskey heritage with experimental maturation. Each small-batch release will explore unique ages, cask types, and styles, offering collectors and enthusiasts a distinctive experience.

“The current trend is for whiskey to have a rich sherry finish, but Garavogue is purposefully different,” says Master Blender Helen Mulholland. “We believe that complexity and subtlety can work hand in hand. It is unusual for a whiskey to be blended with this number and variety of casks, but just as the river ebbs and flows, the flavors create a wonderful blend as they weave together in this 20-year-old single malt.”

Unique Maturation and Flavor Profile

This 94-proof single malt is double-distilled and aged for a minimum of 14 years in ex-bourbon American oak casks, then finished in French Muscat, French Sauternes, Spanish Pedro Ximénez Sherry, and Barbadian Rum casks. The result is a complex whiskey with:

  • Aroma: Vanilla, warm peach, spun sugar, floral notes, and raisins.
  • Palate: Vanilla, citrus sweetness, buttery ripe apples.
  • Finish: Prominent sweet notes from the rum cask.

Distinctive Packaging

The whiskey is presented in a reversed crescent-shaped bottle with a blue label, reflecting the Garavogue River’s wave patterns. The label features imagery of the Hazelwood House Windmill, a historic landmark at Hawk’s Rock Distillery, honoring Sligo’s heritage.

“We hope that Garavogue Whiskey invites Irish Whiskey fans to linger, explore and uncover the hidden stories of Sligo,” remarks Jess Scheerhorn, Vice President at Sazerac. “The Garavogue River shaped this beautiful landscape for millenniums, and Garavogue Irish Whiskey aims to shape new experiences, connections and traditions – one sip at a time.”
