American Oak Series from A. Smith Bowman

A. Smith Bowman is releasing their latest Oak Series: American Oak. If you remember from earlier this year, the first Oak Series: French Oak was one of my favorite bourbons. How will this one stack up, only time will tell if we get to try it!

FREDERICKSBURG, VA (November 13, 2024)A. Smith Bowman Distillery proudly announces a new release. It is the Abraham Bowman Oak Series: American Oak. This bourbon is the second limited-edition whiskey in the Abraham Bowman Oak Series. This 12-year-aged bourbon is exclusively available through an online lottery from November 25 to December 2, 2024. It showcases the distinct influence of American White Oak. This follows the inaugural French Oak release in March. The series explores how various oak types and charring techniques affect whiskey flavors, offering fans a new experience with each unique release.

American White Oak Brings Depth to the Abraham Bowman Series

“American White Oak is the trusted wood for aging whiskey, but this experiment tests diverse oak varieties in our quest to make the best whiskey possible,” shares Head Distiller David Bock. Abraham Bowman Oak Series: American Oak is a 135-proof bourbon. It is expertly aged for 12 years in charred American White Oak barrels. This process delivers a richer, smoother whiskey with a stunning red hue. It has a balance of fruity and smoky notes.

Tasting Notes: Complex, Smooth, and Balanced

Abraham Bowman Oak Series: American Oak opens with a sweet aroma of tart apple and dried berries, with tasting notes of raspberry jam and smoky undertones. The finish is remarkably smooth, leaving a lingering sweetness that complements the bourbon’s robust profile. At 135 proof, this bourbon beautifully balances tart fruit with a touch of pepper, making it ideal for enthusiasts seeking a complex, premium whiskey.
