Ryan Edwards, President of Augusta Distillery
I’m incredibly excited to be joining the team at Augusta. Returning to my home state to craft Kentucky bourbon whiskey once again has always been a dream of mine. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with the Augusta Distillery team and for the trust they have placed in me. I believe we are embarking on an amazing journey, and this is just the beginning.
Alex Castle, Master Distiller
Castle’s passion for whiskey stems from her upbringing in the heart of the country’s bourbon belt. Her journey led her to pursue a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Kentucky. Castle most recently served as the master distiller at Old Dominick Distillery in Memphis. Before that, she honed her craft as a distiller at Wild Turkey in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky.
In addition to her notable distilling career, Castle has been an advocate for the industry. In 2020, she made history as the first female president of the Tennessee Distillers Guild, where she played a pivotal role in promoting tourism along Tennessee’s burgeoning whiskey trail. Castle has also been actively involved in industry advocacy groups, serving as a board member of the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States.
Castle is set to officially join Augusta Distillery and ignite the company’s stills on May 28. The company’s inaugural bourbon barrels are scheduled for release in June 2024.
ABOUT AUGUSTA DISTILLERY
Nestled along the Ohio River in its namesake town of Northern Kentucky, Augusta Distillery has evolved from concept to an acclaimed bourbon company since its establishment in 2018. The company is in the final stages of transforming a late-1800s-era factory building into the region’s premier bourbon distillery and guest experience center. Equipped with two 14-inch Vendome copper column stills, Augusta Distillery will boast an annual distilling capacity of 14,000 barrels upon completion. Augusta’s flagship retail bourbon products include Old Route 8 and Buckner’s 10, all of which are single-barrel, cask-strength, unfiltered, and aged for eight years or more. The company’s inaugural release, Buckner’s 13, was honored as Bourbon of the Year at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2023.
