Headed south to Bowling Green for my buddy Brad’s wedding. After a brief rehearsal we headed to dinner at “The Bistro”. While the first round of drinks were a part of dinner thanks to Brad’s parents, I had to go over to check out the bar. At first glance I didn’t notice much until; my eyes caught one of the best pours I have had in recent memory sits on the shelf begging for a bottle kill in Bardstown Bourbon Company Muscat Mistelle collaboration.
A rush of memories flood over me as the last time I had this whiskey was on my first tour to Bardstown Bourbon Company. The pour stood out on day where we tried some of the most famous whiskeys in the world.
Just the facts:
Proof: 94
Style: Finished
What is Muscat Mistelle: grape juice or slightly fermented white wine to which brandy has been added that is used in the production of other wines (as some vermouths and Malaga)
Jake’s Tasting Notes:
Color: Deep Dark Red
Nose: Rich plum and fig meet you nose as you take your first sniff as you reach for more notes the vanilla and honey shine through.
Palate: the rich jammy consistency run over your palate. As you finish the drink the fig, plum, and raisin shine through.
Finish: the finish is delicate but lingers across the palate
Cheers!
Jake
