Beverly Spirits has launched Beverly Café, a limited release of its award-winning Beverly High Rye rested for six months in casks from Laurel Canyon Spirits, maker of Black Hjerte French press coffee liqueur.
The idea came from founder Andrew Borenzweig, who was at Gucci’s bar in Japan when the bartender served him “Serenade to a Stranger,” a whisky espresso martini that Esquire called “the tastiest Espresso Martini on earth.” The drink showed him how well his rye pairs with coffee liqueur.
Back in Los Angeles, he partnered with Laurel Canyon Spirits. One cask previously held Barrel Aged Black Hjerte; the other held the limited-edition Blood Orange Black Hjerte.
Price and availability:
Beverly Café is bottled at 110 proof and limited to 550 bottles at a suggested retail price of $139.99. It arrives Oct. 30 at select bars, hotels and shops in California, including Erewhon, with Japan to follow.
