Embracing the Art of Fusion – Blue Note Honey Rye Cask
Memphis, TN (August 13, 2024) – Blue Note Bourbon™, the award-winning whiskey portfolio crafted to honor the rich blues music synonymous with Memphis, proudly announces the launch of its limited-release Honey Rye Cask. This new expression exemplifies the art of fusion, combining traditional techniques with innovative finishing methods.
The journey of Blue Note Honey Rye Cask begins with American oak barrels repurposed to age a locally sourced, barrel-aged honey. The whiskey, aged for a minimum of three years, is then returned to these honey-infused casks for additional aging. The result is a distinct and harmonious flavor profile that showcases a classic mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley, bottled at 117.2 proof (58.6% ABV).
“Limited releases like our Honey Rye Cask allow our team to flex its creative muscles and spotlight special finishes,” said Logan Welk, President and Chief Operating Officer of B.R. Distilling Company. “Blue Note’s bold and spicy notes, blended with the nuanced flavors of wildflower honey, deliver an intricate balance of strength and sweetness.”
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Light apricot, vanilla, allspice, and oak.

Blue Note’s whiskey portfolio is crafted in partnership with Bardstown Bourbon Company and aged just north of downtown Memphis, where the Mississippi and Wolf Rivers converge. The unique Memphis climate, with its hot summers and cooler evenings, contributes to the whiskey’s unmistakably rich and bold yet smooth flavor.

These expressions complement the award-winning flagship Blue Note portfolio, featuring Juke Joint ($34.99), Crossroads ($44.99), Uncut ($49.99), and Straight Rye Whiskey ($34.99). Notably, Juke Joint and Crossroads earned Platinum medals at the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, a rare honor awarded to expressions that have received Double Gold medals for three consecutive years.
