We’ve consistently been impressed with the high malted barley bourbon mashbill being distilled at Vapor Distillery in Boulder, so we have high hopes (and expectations) for this release. Scott’s Tasting Notes:

Nose: Malt, maple syrup, melted caramel, and brown sugar, with a hint of charred wood and grilled peaches.

Palate: anise, cinnamon, vanilla, buttery caramel, and baked fruits.

Finish: Lingering fruitiness and maple syrup in this lengthy finish.

Closing Thoughts

This bourbon delivers. While I’m far from a consistent cask strength bourbon drinker, this one packs a lot of flavor without the overwhelming proof burn that one might expect for a 135 proof whiskey. If you enjoy high malt content in your bourbon, or you are a single malt lover looking for a bourbon to test the waters, definitely check out Boulder’s lineup.
