Breckenridge Distillery Reintroduces Cognac Cask Finish Whiskey, Previously Limited Release Only
Breckenridge Distillery has announced the return of its Cognac Cask Finish Whiskey as a permanent offering in its cask finish whiskey line. Originally released as a limited edition in 2022 for the distillery’s Collectors Art Series, the expression is now available in Colorado, with national distribution planned in the near future.
Two-Year Cognac Barrel Finish Enhances Signature Bourbon
The Cognac Cask Finish is created by aging Breckenridge Bourbon Whiskey for over two years in imported Cognac barrels. Cognac used in these barrels typically consists of 85 percent Grande Champagne and 15 percent Petite Champagne grapes, aged between 10 to 37 years. The label design features the iris, France’s national flower, alongside grape blossoms—a visual nod to the whiskey’s French cask influence.
Flavor Profile and Pricing
Bottled at 96 proof, Breckenridge Cognac Cask Finish Whiskey presents tasting notes of sweet red apple, brandied fruit, caramel, and a distinct over-ripe apple sweetness, complemented by bourbon rye spice. The whiskey is priced at a suggested retail price of $59.99.
Award-Winning Lineage
The original limited-edition release of the Cognac Cask Finish earned significant accolades, including Gold at the World Whiskies Awards for Best American Blended Limited Release, Double Gold at the 2023 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and a 95-point score at the 2023 New York International Spirits Competition.
Our Cognac Cask Finish is a testament to our dedication to innovation and quality. Cask finishes have become integral to our business and are among our most beloved and award-winning whiskeys. We are proud to reintroduce this exceptional whiskey to our collection, crafted with the same passion and precision that defines all our spirits.
