A Bold New 125-Proof Expression Debuts from Buffalo Trace Distillery.
Buffalo Trace Distillery has announced the release of Sazerac Rye Whiskey Full Proof, a new permanent addition to the Sazerac Rye lineup. Bottled at 125 proof, the expression is designed to intensify the brand’s signature spicy, peppery, and dry profile.
Born from Buffalo Trace’s $1.2 Billion Expansion
The Full Proof release is a product of the distillery’s recently completed $1.2 billion expansion, which includes new still houses and expanded distillation capacity. This growth allows Buffalo Trace to scale production of core whiskeys while exploring new high-proof offerings.
“We’re excited to bring another full proof option to fans after they’ve expressed their love for our W.L. Weller and Benchmark full proof offerings,” said Harlen Wheatley, Master Distiller. “Our expansion is ten years in the making, and it’s rewarding to see how it’s already allowing us to create more of these whiskeys while maintaining the quality our fans expect.”
Expanding the Sazerac Rye Family
Sazerac Rye has grown from a bartender favorite to a widely respected rye whiskey range. Its 90 proof and 100 proof expressions have built a reputation for balanced spice and complexity common amongst “Kentucky-Style” rye whiskeys. The new Full Proof expression aims to offer a more robust, full-bodied experience for rye whiskey enthusiasts.
“Rye whiskey is the perfect next step for whiskey drinkers looking for more flavor,” said Andrew Duncan, Global Brand Director at Buffalo Trace Distillery. “Sazerac Rye Full Proof amplifies the brand’s floral notes of vanilla and clove, along with fruity hints of orange, with just a touch of pepper.”
Sazerac Rye Whiskey Full Proof features:
- Aromas: rye spice, fresh dill, smoky oak
- Palate: smooth sweetness, floral and herbal notes, rich oak, classic rye grain character
- Finish: lightly peppery with lingering rye spice
Availability and Pricing
Sazerac Rye Whiskey Full Proof will roll out in select U.S. markets beginning November 2025, available through Sazerac’s distributor network at a suggested retail price of $39.99 per 750mL bottle.
Limited-Time Vertical Tasting Event
To celebrate the launch, Buffalo Trace Distillery will host a Sazerac Rye Vertical Tasting from November 14–16. The event features four expressions:
- Sazerac Rye 90
- Sazerac Rye 100
- Sazerac Rye Full Proof
- Sazerac Rye 18-Year-Old (Buffalo Trace Antique Collection)
A $10 ticket includes samples of all four whiskeys, a commemorative glass, and a small bite pairing. Tickets are available online on a first-come, first-served basis on the distillery’s website.
