Tequila Cask Finishes seem to be on the rise both in American Whiskey and internationally. Likely driven by the increased consumer demand for tequila and further innovation / experimentation in the whiskey world, will Tequila Cask Finishes impress consumers? Today, Deanston Distillery in Scotland announced a new limited-edition release that is now available in the United States.

Deanston’s 15 Year Old Tequila Cask Finish Scotch Whisky is a single malt that blends the essence of the Scottish and Mexican Highlands. Described as a whisky that’s “Perfect for the curious explorer,” the release is sure to be packed with unique flavors. The Whisky was matured for 13 years in traditional Oak hogsheads and finished for 2 years in hand-selected casks that once held Agave Tequila from the Jaliscan Highlands, Mexico. This unique maturation process imparts a fruity and floral character to the whisky, while still retaining Deanston’s signature characteristics.

Tasting Notes:

  • NOSE: Fresh. Notes of ripe pineapple, crème Brûlée, mixed nuts and light oak.
  • PALATE: Rich, yet dry on the palate. Bursting with flavors of caramelized agave, toasted almonds, baked apples with custard and warming spice.
  • FINISH: Long finish with brown spice and sweet, citrus bursts.

Deanston’s 15 Year Old Tequila Cask Finish Scotch Whisky is bottled at 102 Proof (51% ABV) and is available in the United States at select retailers and on ReserveBar.com for $279.99 / 700 mL.
