New $415M Montgomery Site Expands Southern U.S. Supply Network.
Diageo has officially opened a new 360,000-square-foot manufacturing and warehousing facility in Montgomery. The site, known as Diageo Montgomery, is designed to enhance the company’s supply chain capabilities across the Southern United States, with multi-million case annual production capacity.
The facility is strategically positioned to improve distribution efficiency, increase operational agility, and reduce transportation distances across the region.
Advanced Technology and Sustainability Features
The Diageo Montgomery site incorporates a range of advanced manufacturing technologies and sustainability-focused infrastructure. These include automated guided vehicles (AGVs) for material handling, high-speed bottling lines with enhanced inspection capabilities, and electric boilers used for sanitation and production processes.
The facility also features real-time water and energy monitoring systems, along with a battery energy storage system to support operations. According to the company, these investments are intended to improve efficiency while reducing environmental impact.
“The opening of Diageo Montgomery marks an important step forward in building the agile, future-ready supply network that our business demands,” said Marsha McIntosh, President of North America Supply at Diageo. “This site reflects our long-term commitment to accelerating innovation, ensuring our iconic brands reach consumers with greater speed and significantly lower environmental impact, and investing in local communities.”

Economic Impact and Job Creation
The project represents an investment of approximately $415 million and is expected to create around 100 full-time jobs. During construction, the development supported approximately 750 jobs in the region.
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey stated that the investment highlights Alabama’s ability to attract global companies and strengthen its manufacturing sector. Local officials, including Montgomery Mayor Steven L. Reed, emphasized the role of the facility in driving economic growth and workforce development in the region.
Community Investment and Education Initiatives
In addition to the facility investment, Diageo has committed $750,000 to support Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Minority-Serving Institutions in Alabama. Funding has been allocated to Alabama A&M University, Alabama State University, and Tuskegee University for scholarships and financial support programs.
The company stated that these initiatives are part of its broader effort to support workforce development and expand access to career opportunities in the region.
