GEORGETOWN, KY (June 11, 2024) – Just in time for Father’s Day, Coors Spirits Co. proudly announces Blue Run’s first release of the year – Blue Run Flight Series II, the second in its acclaimed Flight Series of “micro-batch” whiskeys. This exclusive release features six unique micro-batch bourbons crafted from Blue Run’s renowned Kentucky Straight High Rye Bourbon Whiskey, now available at fine spirits retailers in select states.

Blue Run defines a micro-batch as consisting of at least two but no more than five barrels. Each of the six “Flights” in this release comprises three to four barrels of Blue Run’s flagship High Rye Bourbon, expertly blended by Shaylyn Gammon, Head of Whiskey Development and Innovation. The limited number of barrels used in Blue Run’s micro batching process allows Shaylyn’s award-winning blending artistry to create exceptional flavor experiences in each Flight.
Unique Outdoor Sensory Testing
In a departure from traditional methods, Flight Series II was crafted with a significant portion of sensory testing conducted outdoors. Shaylyn Gammon performed these tests in the fresh Kentucky air, where the interplay of atmosphere, wind, and barometric pressure enhanced the whiskey’s characteristics more prominently than in a controlled lab environment.
I envisioned these blends being enjoyed in a favorite outdoor setting. This is why I conducted my sensory tests outside, since no whiskey fan is ever going to be experiencing their whiskey in a distillery laboratory. I fondly call this my ‘In Situ Whiskey’ because it was made, in part, where I thought it best to be enjoyed.

Six Distinct Flights
Each Flight in Series II showcases the unique qualities of well-respected distilleries, including Castle & Key, Bardstown Bourbon Company, and another undisclosed facility. All barrels featured a #4 alligator char and were aged in non-temperature-controlled warehouses in Bardstown. The Blue Run signature butterfly medallion on the Flight Series II bottle is Blue Pearlized, symbolizing the creation process under a blue sky.
