Marianne Eaves is back with her latest bourbon. In this latest project, Forbidden Bourbon, she leveraged the collaborative distilling methods of Bardstown Bourbon Company to make this new bourbon come to life. Let’s dive in!
Just the Facts: Forbidden Bourbon Small Batch
- Proof: 95.2
- Age: 5 years old
- Mashbill: White corn, white winter wheat, and malted barley (Undisclosed ratio)
- Style: Kentucky Straight Bourbon
- Price: 149.99
Tasting Notes: Forbidden Bourbon Small Batch
Nose: Sweet corn on the tip of the nose, baking spices of nutmeg and cocoa, vanilla, and slight hint of zested citrus
Palate: The palate has some wild flavors that I really enjoyed. A bit of habanero honey warmed my palate with a dash of pepper and cinnamon. It fades to bitter chocolate and nutmeg that gives me heavy winter vibes. The mouthfeel was almost watery and slid nicely across my entire palate.
Finish: Long, milk chocolate finish that was the perfect bow on this pour.
Closing Thoughts
I can get behind Forbidden Bourbon. While it does carry a bit of a higher price tag, I think you will quickly discover what Marianne can do as she incorporates her own unique processes into blending this new bourbon.
