New On-Premise Exclusive Delivers Higher Intensity While Preserving the Balance and Approachability Four Roses Is Known For
Four Roses is expanding its lineup with the launch of Four Roses Bourbon 100 Proof, a new higher-proof expression developed directly in response to feedback from bartenders behind the bar. The release delivers increased structure and intensity while maintaining the balance, consistency, and approachability the brand — and its 80 Proof flagship — is known for.
Designed specifically to perform in cocktail applications, Four Roses Bourbon 100 Proof is built to stand up in classics like the Old Fashioned and Manhattan, while remaining equally enjoyable neat or over ice.
“Four Roses Bourbon at 80 proof is soft, complex, and very approachable. By increasing the proof, these key attributes are not lost…simply magnified. It’s a different perspective on the same classic flavors that make Four Roses Bourbon interesting and unique. 100 is the perfect proof point for increasing the intensity of the nuanced flavors without overwhelming the balance,” said Brent Elliott, Master Distiller at Four Roses.
Elliott also pointed to the brand’s high-rye mash bill as a key reason the higher-proof expression works so well in cocktail applications. “For bartenders, Four Roses Bourbon has always been a favorite because of its high rye content. The structure and spice of the rye allows it to retain its ‘Bourbon’ character in a cocktail with other competing flavors. It creates more harmony and synergy within the cocktail without getting lost in the flavors. The idea of taking this liquid to 100 proof follows the same logic. The extra proof expands on Four Roses Bourbon’s ability to shine in any cocktail.”
The launch reflects a broader shift among bartenders toward higher-proof bourbons as a foundational cocktail base, according to Abby Martinie, Brand Ambassador and Mixologist for Four Roses. “Four Roses Bourbon has always been a quality option for cocktails. However, bartenders have chosen to use a higher proof whiskey as their foundational cocktail bourbon, in order to utilize it in an increased variety of cocktails. The flavor is as it always has been, but increasing the proof allowed for more flexibility and range in both classic and craft cocktails.”
Four Roses Bourbon 100 Proof will be available exclusively at on-premise locations in 750ml (SRP $29.99) and 1L (SRP $32.99).
