New Limited Collection from James B. Beam Distilling Co. Highlights How Warehouse Environments Shape Flavor.

Hardin’s Creek Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, the experimental whiskey collection from The James B. Beam Distilling Co., has announced the release of its new Warehouse Series. The limited-edition, three-part collection—Warehouse R (“Mushroom”), Warehouse W (“Beaver”), and Warehouse G (“Owl”)—examines how different aging environments within rickhouses influence the character and flavor of bourbon.

A New Chapter in Hardin’s Creek Innovation

The Warehouse Series follows Hardin’s Creek’s 2023 Kentucky Series, which explored the effects of terroir through aging across multiple campuses in Clermont, Frankfort, and Boston. This latest project takes the experiment further by keeping every production variable identical—except for the warehouse itself. Each whiskey in the collection was made from the same mash bill, aged under distinct architectural and environmental conditions to highlight how rickhouse design, height, and microclimate shape a bourbon’s flavor.

Freddie Noe on the Art of Experimentation

“The Warehouse Series embodies the spirit of exploration that defines Hardin’s Creek—experimentation, discovery, and storytelling,” said Freddie Noe, Eighth Generation Master Distiller, James B. Beam Distilling Co. “By holding every variable constant except the warehouse itself, we’re able to demonstrate the unique impact maturation environments have on the spirit.”

Art, Storytelling, and Symbolism

Hardin’s Creek partnered with internationally renowned surrealist artist Max Loeffler to develop new bottle artwork. Each design features a symbolic character representing its warehouse environment: the Mushroom, the Beaver, and the Owl. The detailed illustrations incorporate hidden elements that hint at each whiskey’s location, campus, proof, and age statement—encouraging collectors to explore the visual storytelling behind the spirits.

Three Unique Warehouse Expressions

  • Warehouse R “The Mushroom” (55% ABV) comes from a single-story, windowless warehouse that provides a cool, dark environment similar to a forest floor, resulting in whiskey with deep oak influence and toasted sweetness.
  • Warehouse W “The Beaver” (55% ABV) was aged in a nearly century-old, five-story rickhouse near a creek, producing a balanced bourbon with lighter oak smoke and depth.
  • Warehouse G “The Owl” (55% ABV) matured in a towering nine-story warehouse, yielding whiskey with layered aromatics and unmatched complexity.

Availability and Details

Each expression in the Hardin’s Creek Warehouse Series carries an 11-year age statement and is bottled at approximately 110 proof. The collection is available now in select markets, with a suggested retail price of $149.99 per 700mL bottle.
