I was truly blown away with what the team created with their straight bourbon whiskey, which was featured in our last review. Let’s see how the “proofed up” version will fare.
Just the Facts: High N’ Wicked Cask Strength
- Proof: 125.98
- Age: 5 Years
- Mash bill: 51% corn, 39% rye, 10% malted barley
- Style: Barrel Proof, Sweet Mash, Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Jake’s Tasting Notes: High N’ Wicked Cask Strength
- Nose: This pour gives me more of the same notes as the straight, 104 proof bottling. Pipe tobacco and berry both carry over. However, there is rich vanilla and fig, bacon jam note that shines.
- Palate: Tobacco, black pepper, vanilla, tannin, cherry.
- Finish: The honey finish lingers very nicely. Almost like a hot toddy in a glass.
Closing Thoughts:
This whiskey was perfect for the transition from winter to spring. This pour has moved into my campfire pour for the next few weeks as we get ready to sit around the Solo Stove and enjoy the an evening by the fire.
