Since being elevated to a limited release whiskey, Rendezvous Rye from High West Whiskey has received a remake each of the last two years. The blend of older stock, own-make High West Rye Whiskey plus the youth of their sourced products makes for a complex blend. While last year’s Rendezvous Rye blew the previous blends out of the water, this one takes it even one step further.

Jake’s Tasting Notes:
Color: Honey
Nose: When raising a glass of rye, I am always looking for one of two things: citrus or woodsy notes. This one checks the citrus box in a heavy way almost leaning into grapefruit. As the wave of citrus gives way, other notes of honey, vanilla and botanical (gin type notes) emerge.
Palate: The oily mouthfeel is the first thing I notice about the blend. It runs over the palate with lingering hints of cinnamon and cracker pepper. This pour is definitely on the dryer side, lending itself to some nuttiness and darker fruits.
Finish: light lingering notes of cinnamon and ginger.
