Jane Bowie and Denny Potter have announced the name of their new distillery project, Potter Jane Distilling Co.
One of the newest distillery projects in Kentucky finally has a name. Potter Jane Distilling Company has broken ground in Springfield, Kentucky. The vision of Kentucky Bourbon industry legends, Jane Bowie and Denny Potter, the distillery plans to be operation in 2024.
The Next Move for Former Maker’s Mark Whiskey-Makers
Bowie and Potter previously served at the Maker’s Mark Distillery, as Head Blender and Master Distiller, respectively. In August 2022, Maker’s Mark announced their departure and the industry has been patiently waiting for the pair to announce more details on their next move. Rob Samuels stated at the time: “Denny and Jane also have an entrepreneurial itch and have expressed a desire to blaze their own trails in the Bourbon industry with a new venture. While Denny and Jane will depart with our utmost thanks on September 2, [2022] they will always be members of the Maker’s Mark family.”
Some Details on the Project
In 2022, Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) gave preliminary approval for up to $700,000 in tax incentives for “J&D Distilling” in Springfield, which listed Bowie and Potter as co-owners. According to documents submitted to KEDFA, their project seeks to create “world class whiskey with uncompromising quality that maximizes flavor. The proposed project would include the purchase of land and construction of a new 25,000 square foot manufacturing facility.”
