J. Rieger & Co. has announced the release of its 2025 Monogram Kansas City Whiskey Solera Reserve. The annual release is the distillery’s most limited expression and is crafted by Master Distiller Nathan Perry, Co-Founder Ryan Maybee, and their tasting panel in Kansas City.
A Modern Take on Pre-Prohibition Legacy
The 2025 Monogram edition continues a tradition that dates back to 1887, honoring a legacy first established by J. Rieger’s pre-Prohibition whiskey. The blend comprises Straight Bourbon, Straight Rye, and Light Corn Whiskey, finished in Oloroso Sherry botas sourced from Williams & Humbert in Jerez, Spain. Each of the 1887 bottles is labeled to reflect the distillery’s founding year.
“Crown Jewel of Our Portfolio”
“The 2025 edition of the Monogram Whiskey is the crown jewel of our portfolio and a defining statement of what American Whiskey and innovative aging and blending techniques can achieve,” says Ryan Maybee, co-founder of J. Rieger & Co. “This year’s blend builds on our unique partnership with Spain’s historic Williams & Humbert Sherry house. Their century-old oloroso botas add unmatched depth and elegance to the whiskey—creating something rare and timeless. With extremely limited quantities available, Monogram stands as both a collector’s item and a tribute to the patient craft that defines our distillery.”
Solera Method Adds Complexity
J. Rieger & Co. utilizes a unique solera aging method — a fractional blending process — to produce a whiskey that evolves over time. The solera comprises ten casks, each 50 to 100 years old, adding a rich complexity to the whiskey’s profile, with notes of dried fruit, spice, and a subtle oxidative character.
Historical Sherry Connection and Availability
The distillery first partnered with the historic Williams & Humbert Sherry house in 2014 and was the first in the U.S. to be authorized to import sherry in bulk from Spain in 2017. The 2025 Monogram release, which retails at a suggested price of \$130 for a 750 ml bottle, will be available at select bars and retail locations in Missouri and Kansas, with a limited number of bottles distributed to other major markets.
