Kavalan LAN Single Malt Whisky U.S. Launch

SAN FRANCISCO (March 10, 2026) – Today, acclaimed Taiwanese distillery Kavalan, in partnership with importer Hotaling & Co., announced the nationwide U.S. release of Kavalan LÁN Single Malt Whisky.

Arriving in key markets on May 1, 2026, this new expression serves as a liquid tribute to Yilan (Kavalan’s birthplace) and the orchid—lán hua—the floral symbol of Taiwan. Priced at $79.99 SRP, the whisky arrives with significant momentum, having already been named one of Forbes’ 2025 Best World Whiskies by the Council of Whiskey Masters.

A “Dessert-Like” Masterpiece

Kavalan LÁN is crafted through a precise vatting of Port, ex-Bourbon, and S.T.R. Vinho wine casks. The S.T.R. process—shaving, toasting, and recharring—is a Kavalan signature that intensifies caramelized sugars and fruity sweetness.

“LÁN is a celebration of Yilan and the beauty of Taiwan’s orchids,” says Senior Blender Zerose Yang. “By marrying the richness of the bourbon barrels, the floral elegance of the port casks, and the caramelized sweetness from Vinho wine casks, we create a whisky that is both layered and harmonious.”

Tasting Profile & Presentation

The spirit is presented in a bottle featuring elegant Chinese calligraphy and the King Car Honey Peach orchid, an award-winning breed from the distillery’s parent company.

Color: Amber Purple
Nose: Captivating orchid, rose, and orange blossom met with creamy vanilla and fruit gummies.
Palate: Refreshing floral notes intertwined with chocolate, creamy textures, and a nutty, cinnamon woody fragrance.
Finish: A lingering evocance of a distant forest with warm nut and cinnamon notes.
