O’Shaughnessy Distilling Co. Debuts American Pot Still Whiskey as First Self-Distilled Release.

Keeper’s Heart Whiskey announced the launch of American Pot Still Whiskey, the brand’s first self-distilled release and the beginning of a planned trilogy of pot still whiskeys. The trilogy will continue with a triple pot distilled American Rye in 2027 and a triple pot distilled American Bourbon in 2028. The whiskey is triple pot distilled in an Irish style and aged in virgin American oak.

Return to Historic American Distillation Methods

The brand positions the release as a return to early American whiskey production methods, noting that pot distillation was the original approach before column stills became common. Keeper’s Heart describes the release as a revival of traditional distillation practices focused on flavor and craftsmanship rather than efficiency and scale.

Master Distiller Brian Nation on Craft and Tradition

Master Distiller Brian Nation emphasized the intent behind the release, stating, “Made the Hard Way On Purpose. With American Pot Still Whiskey, we deliberately return to a method that prioritizes flavor, richness, and craftsmanship. This isn’t just whiskey; it’s a tradition worth rediscovering.

Author and whiskey expert Noah Rothbaum also commented on the release, stating, “It’s really exciting to see a whiskey brand going back to America’s distilling roots to find inspiration for a wholly new expression.”

Flavor Profile and Irish Triple Pot Distillation Influence

Keeper’s Heart says American Pot Still Whiskey is inspired by the Irish triple pot distillation tradition and describes the flavor profile as warm spices, honey, and dried fruit on the nose; a creamy palate with caramel, malt, and citrus; and a long, smooth finish with subtle oak and spice.

Marketing Campaign and Interactive Activation

The launch is supported by a campaign under the platform “Pot Is Back,” which includes storytelling, activations, and digital marketing. One activation is the “Burn the Ordinary” augmented reality experience, which allows consumers to digitally transform whiskey imagery and unlock a $5 discount on a qualifying purchase through the brand’s online store.
